What users say
iMazing Converter
"Free desktop HEIC to JPEG/PNG converter, local processing, no published quota; test old-macOS systems on a sample first"
Pros
Vendor labels both the Mac and the Windows download as licensing 100% free, with no paid tier of the converter and no published daily quota Small download for a desktop utility, 26.3 MB on macOS and 40.8 MB on Windows, so it installs quickly on either platform Drag-and-drop interface makes bulk HEIC-to-JPG conversion straightforward for non-technical users
Microsoft Photos
"Simplest zero-install HEIC viewer for Windows, but lacks batch processing and output control"
Pros
Built into Windows 10 1809+ with zero installation required for viewing and converting HEIC photos No file size limits or daily conversion restrictions since it is a native system application Maintains EXIF metadata and orientation data when exporting HEIC to JPG
